Susan Sarandon
Susan Sarandon has featured in movies and television since 1969, winning ultimate acclaim with an Oscar for her performance in the film Dead Man Walking.
Other notable appearances include Atlantic City, Thelma and Louise, Lorenzo’s Oil and The Client, which all earned her Oscar nominations.
Sarandon, of the United States of America, works tirelessly with various organizations, focusing especially on hunger, women’s rights, and HIV/AIDS.
Among several honours, she has received the Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award and the Amnesty International USA Media Spotlight Award for Leadership.
Sarandon was appointed an FAO Goodwill Ambassador in 2010. “I am proud to help draw everyone’s attention to the very real and dramatic problems of hunger, food insecurity and extreme poverty,” she said.
Sarandon is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and a spokesperson for non-profit organization Heifer International, which works to combat poverty and hunger. |
