In a related development, the Food and Agriculture Organization in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives held a Candlelight Vigil on 21 October at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka. The guest of Honour was Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, the first President of the Republic of Zambia. The FAO Representative Dr. Noureddin Mona and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Hon. Albert Mulonga hosted the function. The function was also attended by UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Macleod Nyirongo, UN Heads of Agencies, UN MDG Advocate Ms. Marsha Moyo Senior Government officials, Diplomatic Corps, representatives from the Civil Society and Religious organizations.
