The 3rd Run for Food involves a 10 km competitive race and a second five kilometre non-competitive race, dedicated to the fight against hunger. The registration fee for both races will be donated to TeleFood projects.

In Rome, the event will be held at the Terme di Caracalla and it will be organized by the Bancari Romani Athletic Association in partnership with FAO, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Food Programme (WFP), and Bioversity International. FAO Goodwill Ambassador Justine Pasek, Miss Universe 2002, Panamá, will be the patron of the event and in this capacity will attend both the press conference to be held at the Palazzo del Campidoglio on 14 October 2008 and the launch of the Run for Food. Fiona May, long jump Olympic gold medallist, will also act as testimonial for the event and will attend the press conference, the Run for Food launch and will record a support message. The event will be covered amongst others by "Striscia la Notizia", and Jimmy Ghione, its renowned journalist and anchorman, will participate as a testimonial in both the press conference and the beneficiary Run.
