FAO's Goodwill Ambassadors are speaking with one voice in an urgent appeal on behalf of more the more than one billion people living in chronic hunger worldwide. These celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, sport, fashion and science are helping to build momentum in advance of the World Summit on Food Security (“the Hunger Summit”) taking place in Rome from 16 to 18 November.

Pierre Cardin, Carl Lewis, Roberto Baggio, Anggun, Dionne Warwick, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Gong Li, Noa, Ronan Keating, Fanny Lu have all strongly stated that the plight of these billion undernourished people is morally unacceptable. They are posting messages of support on their official Web pages, extending their outreach through twitter and other social media, linking to the newly established online petition for change, or encouraging their fans and associates to support community food production projects by making an online donation.

Many of the Goodwill Ambassadors are recording and distributing statements on the eradication of hunger. Video clips to promote the Hunger Summit have been recorded by Nobel Prize Laureate Rita Levi Montalcini and Mexican rock group Maná.
