Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, the First Lady of Egypt added her signature to “1 Billion Hungry Project" Petition

ENGLISH VERSION

Based on a strong conviction and commitment to fighting global hunger and poverty, Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, the First Lady of Egypt added her signature today to “1 Billion Hungry Project" Petition, launched by the FAO Director General Jacques Diouf on the eve of the World Food Summit 2009. In commenting on the current world situation whereby almost one billion people do not have enough to eat and a child dies every six seconds because of hunger-related causes, she asserted that this situation is morally, politically and socially unacceptable. Mrs. Mubarak expressed her firm support to the “one billion hungry initiative” and called on all governments to place the elimination of hunger at the top of their priorities and to act decisively to achieve this goal.

بناء على اقتناع والتزام قوى إزاء القضاء على الجوع والفقر فى العالم، وقعت السيدة الفاضلة سوزان مبارك على عريضة حملة"المليار جائع" التي أطلقها د. جاك ضيوف مدير عام منظمة الأغذية الزراعة للأمم المتحدة عشية إجتماع قمة العالم للأغذية 2009. وتعليقاً على الوضع العالمى الراهن حيث يوجد حوالى مليار شخص لا يحصلون على ما يكفيهم من طعام، ويموت فيه طفل كل ست ثوان لأسباب متعلقة بالجوع، أكدت سيادتها على أن هذا الوضع غير مقبول أخلاقياً وسياسياً واجتماعياً، وأعربت عن تأييدها لـ "مبادرة المليار جائع"، ودعت جميع الحكومات لوضع القضاء على الجوع فى صدارة أولوياتها، والعمل بحزم نحو تحقيق هذا الهدف.
