World Food Day/TeleFood in Marshall Islands

31 / 10月 / 2008

Marshall Islands Journal

The Marshall Islands Journal published the following article:

“Friday was a great day at Majuro’s Local Market. Lots of people and plenty of food to try and buy. The occasion was World Food Day, and the topic “food security” — which is a fancy way of talking about how to make sure that people have adequate amounts of food that they can afford. The Ministry of Resources and Development, together with the Taiwan Embassy, local farmers and entrepreneurs organized the event. Ministry of Health took advantage of the gathering to offer diabetes and blood pressure testing. Photos clockwise, from top: Friday was a busy day with lots of plants being handed out by the Laura Technical Mission, cooking demonstrations and food for sale; George Batin and Junior Kuli prepare food for a cooking show; Rais Aho gets a taste of local cuisine; Bamina Lang, Roinia Joribwij, Liz Sweet and Herthy Heine positioned themselves to enjoy food being cooked nearby; Jabkon Lather stir fries a tasty dish of pork and vegetables; a spread of fresh and cooked foods ready to be eaten — the fruits are all being grown at the Laura Technical Mission.”
