Within the framework of the GFCM Online Forum, the GFCM organized a second webinar:

The experience of the aquaculture sector through best practices and mitigation measures facing the COVID-19 crisis

in collaboration with the Regional Commission for Fisheries (RECOFI)

Wednesday, 1 July, 10:00-11:30 CEST, Zoom

This webinar focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on the production and market of aquaculture product and will share experiences and best practices on initial response, and long-term strategies and mitigation measures. The discussions fostered reflection and identified effective responses that could guide a way forward for the sector and its products.

The aim was to contribute to building the resilience of the aquaculture sector in order to maintain the competitiveness of the industry, sustain livelihoods and ensure market supply in support of food security.

This online forum is part of the activities organized by the GFCM to gain a better understanding of the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on the fisheries and aquaculture sectors. The conclusions of these discussions will contribute to a wider reflection on the measures taken, lessons learnt and future actions for the region. The online forum will be open and interactive to promote effective collaboration and active exchange of ideas between participants.
