he Workshop on the assessment of management measures (WKMSE) of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) was held in Burgas, Bulgaria, on 10–11 July 2018. The key objectives of the meeting were to: i) review existing and potential management measures for Black Sea turbot fisheries, and complete them with new measures implemented during the intersession by contracting parties and cooperating non-contracting parties (CPCs); ii) discuss the assumptions of an operating model for a quantitative management strategy evaluation (MSE) based on the current stock assessment method applied to the turbot stock in the Black Sea; iii) definethe set of management scenarios to be tested; and iv) assess the biological implications of the selected alternative management scenarios. The workshop was organized just before the seventh meeting of the Working Group on the Black Sea (WGBS), to which the workshop conclusions were reported.
