EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Working Group on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated fishing (WGIUU), including the session of the Compliance Committee (CoC) on the clarification process, was held on 17–18 July 2019 in Tirana, Albania. The meeting reviewed progress in the implementation of the mid-term strategy (2017–2020) towards the sustainability of Mediterranean and Black Sea fisheries.Several problems associated with the implementation of GFCM recommendations and the submission of data were identified. Furthermore, discussions towards the streamlining of the provision of technical assistance to contracting parties and cooperating non-contracting parties (CPCs) were entertained. The compliance tables for the year 2019 were adopted.
