KCE organizes consultations and workshops with FAO's members and the international community on subjects related to agricultural information and knowledge management, with the following objectives:

• to develop and agree on international normative frameworks of technical guidelines, norms and standards;
• to receive advice and achieve consensus on good practices in the development of systems and networks, and in capacity building;
• to foster exchanges of experiences on the implementation of agricultural information systems in member states, especially in relation to the use of normative frameworks.

The Division also brings forward policy-related items on agricultural information management to FAO's Governing Bodies, in relation to direct requests from members and outputs of consultations.
