Partnerships

Partnerships are conducted with governments, NGOs, and other UN agencies and are based on a two-way process of sharing information, knowledge and skills. Partnership activities such as AGLINET and AGORA are financed almost entirely by participants. Others are financed to a great extent by extra-budgetary funds; strong liaison takes place with FAO Member Governments and donors to secure the necessary financial resources to implement activities.

AGLINET is a voluntary network of agricultural libraries around the world with strong regional and country coverage. All member libraries provide low-cost inter-library loan and photocopy services, bibliographic information and reproductions to other member libraries.

AGORA is a global initiative which provides free and reduced-price online scientific journal access to audiences in developing countries. AGORA was established by FAO, international publishers, the World Health Organization (WHO), Cornell University Mann Library, Yale University and major funders, including the Rockefeller Foundation, DFID and USAID.

Within the context of information location and dissemination,KCE also works closely with global development organization, the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). FAO and the CGIAR share WAICENT Information Finder search tool technology and exchange data for corporate search results.

KCE also exchanges information with the Development Gateway, World Resources Institute and the World Bank to enrich the FAO Country Profiles and Mapping Information System and shares its own vast wealth of statistics, research and data.
