GIAHS - 全球重要农业文化遗产

The Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) International Forum will bring together policymakers, representatives from GIAHS sites, country delegates, international experts and FAO staff as well as relevant international organizations to discuss and exchange the experiences gained and lessons learned through GIAHS application, implementation of action plans for dynamic conservation and to consider future perspectives of the GIAHS Programme.

The event will also include an award ceremony for newly designated GIAHS sites proposed in 2016, in  countries such as China, Japan, Egypt, Korea, Mexico, Spain (first site in Europe), and Sri Lanka have been newly endorsed as GIAHS.

The forum will also serve as a moment to take stock of the experiences in dynamic conservation of the 50 sites now present in 20 countries around the world. Many of them have undertaken significant follow-up activities and accumulated experiences of for conservation, adaptive management and development of the sites. It is time to assess lessons learnt and share experiences among GIAHS sites as well as other similar agricultural approaches.

Technical session throughout the day to discuss various activities relevant to GIAHS as well will occur along with a photo exhibit featuring shots of GIAHS sites done by award winning photographer George Steinmetz.

There will also be an exhibit to show the typical products originated from the GIAHS sites along with relevant information
