Summary

The proposed GIAHS site “Argan-based agro-pastoral system within the area of Ait Souab-Ait Mansour” located in the region of the Anti Atlas is a the unique region where Argan trees have been cultivated for centuries. The population that largely consists of autochtonous Amazigh but also of Arab origin has developed a specific agricultural system based on argan trees cultivation, pastoralism and agroforestry knowledge to face drastic natural water limitation.
