Ethnic and social diversity at Imilchil's marriage festival

Imilchil, Morocco, 14 September 2012

The festival (or "moussem" in Arabic) of marriage and engagement at Imilchil is one of the finest marriage events in Morocco. The moussem is celebrated each year in mid-September, with this year’s event scheduled for 13-15 September.

Home to the Ait Hdiddou tribe, and a symbol of Berber culture, the town of Imilchil has been designated as GIAHS site in 2011, as a result of joint collaboration between FAO and INRA, Tafilet's ORMVA and ADRAR association.
