GIAHS Ceremony in Korea

The GIAHS ceremony in Korea was held on 4th April during the special meeting of KIAHS (Korean Important Agricultural Heritage Systems) Committee to report on the designation of two sites to stakeholders followed by the ceremony of certificates presentation in advance of the formal designation to be held on 28th and 29th April on the occasion of GIAHS Steering and Scientific Committee Meeting.
After the GIAHS designation progress report from the Ministry and the review of the two sites by the several researchers, there was a certificate presentation ceremony by Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and rural development, Dong-Phil Lee.
The Minister emphasized the importance of safeguarding traditional heritage systems in Korea, GIAHS is very important to achieve these goals and thanked FAO’s strong and continuous support of Korean efforts.
