Four new Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems from Bangladesh and Japan were awarded by FAO Director-General

On 15th December 2015, four systems were newly designated as GIAHS on the occasion of Joint Meeting of GIAHS Steering and Scientific Committee. Director-General of FAO awarded certificates to representatives from each site. Read more>

"Discover GIAHS - Agricultural Heritage in Japan", Japan Pavilion, Milano Expo (16th to 21st October 2015)

From October 16 to 21, 2015, five Japanese local governments which holds GIAHS sites (Niigata, Ishikawa, Shizuoka, Oita and Kumamoto) jointly organized exhibition of their GIAHS sites, their food and agricultural products, traditional cultures and local cuisine, and beauty of their natural landscapes, on the occasion of Milano Expo in the Japanese Pavilion. Workshop on apricots fall in the oasis of Gafsa

Regional Commissary for Agricultural Development of Gafsa (CRDA Gafsa) and the Association for the Safeguard of the Medina of Gafsa (ASM Gafsa) held workshop on the phenomenon apricots falling in the oases of Gafsa on 12th June 2015, at the headquarters of CRDA Gafsa, as part of the project "Integrated fight against the Mediterranean fruit fly in the oases of Gafsa" supported by the FAO in Tunisia.
