With the support of the Japanese government, FAO has created a short movie to explain what is GIAHS.
The video introduces what GIAHS is, how many sites are designated, and explains how they are recognized, taking one example of Wakayama prefecture in Japan. Not only does the video illustrate the process to the recognition, it also highlights the importance of conservation, passing it on to the future generations.

Desde 2016, se han designado 14 nuevos sitios como Sistemas Importantes del Patrimonio Agrícola Mundial, incluidos los primeros en Europa. Al igual que otros sitios declarados con anterioridad, de estos sistemas destacan las tradiciones agrícolas que promueven la sostenibilidad, salvaguardan la biodiversidad y protegen el medioambiente al tiempo que apoyan el desarrollo social y económico necesario para lograr medios de vida estables y decentes.
