 Export prices of wheat further strengthened in September, but those of maize declined slightly from their near record highs of August. International rice prices generally increased.

 Domestic prices of wheat continued to increase last month in countries of Asia, CIS and South America, reflecting higher prices in international and regional export markets.

 In Western and Eastern Africa, prices of main staples maize, sorghum and millet declined in September from the record highs of the previous months, reflecting seasonal harvest pressure.
