Azerbaijan revises custom import duties

In late November, the Government announced revisions to the import duties for paddy, rye and barley to come into effect from 1 January 2018. The custom duty on imports of paddy for sowing is currently set at 5 percent between January and April and at 15 percent for the remaining months of the calendar year. From January 2018, no custom duties will be applied in the first four months, while for the remainder of the year a 5 percent duty will be applied. Custom duties on imports of paddy rice for consumption will remain at 15 percent. Import duties on rye and barley for sowing, currently set at 5 percent and 0.5 percent for the same periods as paddy, will be removed, while for imports of rye and barley intended for consumption will remain at 5 percent. Duties on maize imports will also be eliminated.
