Zimbabwe increases producer prices of grains

10/10/2019,

Amid steep inflation rates, the Government has raised the producer prices of maize and other grains, including sorghum and millet, from ZWL 2 100 per tonne to ZWL 4 000 per tonne in early October. This is the fourth consecutive increase initiated by the Government in 2019 due to the severe economic difficulties, including significant price increases, notably of agricultural inputs, which the country is facing. The measure aims to encourage farmers to deliver grain to the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) and bolster strategic grain reserves.
