Zambia: Import quota on wheat set at 75 000 tonnes

20/03/2015,

The Government of Zambia introduced a wheat import quota of 75 000 tonnes in March to ensure that the county maintains sufficient supplies following a 26 percent production decrease in 2014. The country has been self-sufficient in wheat for the previous three years. The import quota is set to expire at the end of August in order to facilitate the procurement of the domestic crop, to be harvested from August/September.
