Uzbekistan reduces import taxes on wheat flour

13/04/2017,

On 1 April, the Government reduced the import tax on wheat flour from 11 percent to 5 percent. Import duties were already revised downwards in 2014 from 15 percent, a rate that had been in place since 2012. The measure is part of a national process aiming to streamline trade activities and to gradually liberalize imports. The country imports around 30 percent of its cereal food consumption requirements (mainly wheat and wheat flour), mostly from neighbouring Kazakhstan.
