The second meeting of the UNLOCODE Advisory Group Meeting took place in Hangzhou, China, on 18-19 October 2018.

The “United Nations Code for Trade and Transport Locations” (UN/LOCODE) is an international standard assisting information exchange.

The UNLOCODE is in use in international information systems, such as those of the IMO, and is being incorporated in the FAO PSMA and Global Record information systems as the international reference code list for ports.

A Focal Points Network was set up in 2015 to improve data quality and the Advisory Group was set up in 2017 as a platform for the maintenance and development of the code.

FAO made a presentation as one of the key stakeholders and participated as part of the UNLOCODE user community to report on the use and implications of the UNLOCODE in fisheries information exchange.
