FAO through the GSP and in agreement with EMBRAPA-SOLOS is currently funding the implementation of the “Sistema de Información de Suelos de Latinoamerica” Phase I and II. Capacity development on digital soil mapping is the core of this project and is implemented by EMBRAPA-SOLOS with the active participation of 20 countries in the region.

Distance and in-situ training sessions were successfully implemented and 60 soil scientists in the region are part of this effort. From 18 to 22 March 2013, the second training will take place at EMBRAPA-SOLOS with lectures from this institution and INTA, Argentina.
