International Training On Digital Soil Property Mapping and Information Delivery

Co-organizers: Sustainable Management of Agricultural Research and Technology Dissemination (SMARTD) of the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD)

In the framework of establishing the Global Soil Information System (GLOSIS), the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) is promoting capacity building by providing training sessions to support the member countries in digital soil mapping activities.

During the workshops GSP mapping experts train the appointed representatives of national soil institutions in state of the art mapping methodologies and techniques. This contributes to improving the capacity of the counties to participate in the GSP’s activities within the GLOSIS framework, to deliver required data products for SDG reporting, and to enhance national soil information for evidence based decision-making.

The Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) asked the GSP for a workshop to train national staff in digital soil mapping. This training will be attended by 46 participants from different regions and institutions of Indonesia. The training will last 5 days and include short courses on software, data preparation and modelling of soil properties.
