Official Documents for the sixth GSP Plenary Assembly now available

The Global Soil Partnership Plenary Assembly (PA) constitutes the main venue where all GSP partners come together to make important decisions about the global soil agenda. The 6th PA of the Global Soil Partnership will take place at FAO headquarters in Rome from 11 to 13 June 2018.

In accordance with the GSP Rules of Procedure, the official documents for each item of the agenda are to be made available 30 days before the start of the Plenary assembly:

Documents in the other languages will be published progressively during the coming days.

The main highlights for the 6th PA session are: 

  1. key achievements of the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS) in 2017-2018, the appointment of the new panel of members for another term of three years and the roadmap for 2018-2019;
  2. progresses under each pillar of actions of GSP, especially the presentation of the implementation plans for pillars 1 and 3;
  3. GSP-induced activities, such as the organization of the past symposium on Soil Organic Carbon and Soil Pollution and the proposal for future symposiums;
  4. achievements of the Regional Soil Partnerships through Regional Implementation Plans (RIPs);
  5. communication campaign related to future World Soil Day celebrations and the 2018 Glinka World Soil Prize award;
  6. organization of the side event: “Afrisoils: boosting soil productivity for a food secured Africa.

The Plenary meetings of the NENA Soil Partnership and the African Soil Partnership will be held during this session (13th June). 

The GSP Secretariat invites participants to register to the 6th Plenary Assembly meeting by 25 May 2018. Please note that the online registration requires the uploading of a recent passport-size digital photograph.

The opening meeting will commence at 09.00 hours on Monday 11 June. All sessions will be interpreted in the six FAO official languages (English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and Arabic).
