Interview with Toshiaki Ohkura, Senior soil researcher from Japan

Watch the interview with Dr Toshiaki Ohkura, Senior researcher at the Institute for Agro-environmental Sciences (NARO) in Japan.

Recently, the GSP Secretariat had the opportunity to interview Dr Ohkura on his long and outstanding career in the field of soil sciences. His whole career contributed to FAO’s work on soils, both in Japan and at global level.

The key questions raised to Dr Okura were focusing on his contribution to fighting soil degradation, why are soils so important, what are the ingredients for a healthy soil, how to engage with the private sector and finally what are his recommendations for the next generations.
