Sixth working session of the ITPS
During 20-24 March 2017, ITPS members convened its sixth working session at FAO HQ in Rome, Italy.
As part of the session, ITPS members actively participated in the Global Symposium on Soil Organic Carbon, which was the core activity agreed with IPCC and SPI-UNCCD during the 5th ITPS working session in 2016.
In a nutshell, the session focused on the follow up activities after GSOC17, the progress review of the workplan 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, including the establishment of the editorial board for the preparation of the Status of the World’s Soil Resources report by 2020. Also, it included a review on the development of the Global Soil Organic Carbon map, the collaboration with other UN panels, the preparation of a global assessment of the impact of plant protection products on soil functions and soil ecosystems.
