GSER19: interviews on the spot

Q&As are a great way to engage the audience while pushing different stakeholders to answer specific questions all at once. This is what we did during GSER 19!

14/06/2019

During the Global Symposium on Soil Erosion (GSER 19), held from 15 – 17 May 2019 at FAO HQ in Rome, Italy, the Global Soil Partnership decided to shoot a series of short videos on soil erosion.

Soil erosion represents one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time, decreasing agricultural productivity, degrading crucial ecosystems and the functions they can provide, amplifying hydrogeological risks and, in the most severe cases, leading to the displacement of populations. Soil erosion is the number one threat to our planet’s soils, to global food security, as it can decrease crop yields by up to 50%, and to the achievement of the SDGs. What do participants think about soil erosion? Is it true or false that erosion prevention and control is key to ‘save our future’?

Each interviewee had 20 seconds to answer. Some answered very simply, while others went into great depth. This resulted in a puzzle of impressions from different angles, experiences and regions.
