FAO colombia and GSP working together to validate the Global Soil Doctors Toolkit

In collaboration with the Soil Doctors Programme of the Global Soil Partnership, FAO representation in Colombia is currently organizing farmers to farmers training sessions. The tools provided during the training sessions help them to better understand soil resources, which is their main source of food.

As a result, farmers are learning to translate their empirical knowledge of soil into practical and scientific knowledge ranging from the description of shapes, colors and smells to the use of chemical reagents when designing fertilization plans.

Farmers are discovering a new dimension, even though they have it in their hands every day. In a few hours, terms such as biodiversity, carbon sequestration and moisture retention become meaningful and help them to better manage soil sustainably.
