Over 300 attendees including delegates, members of the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) and other stakeholders are expected to join the live virtual meeting. Participants will be able to listen, talk, vote, and submit questions from any remote location with internet connectivity.

Given the limitations posed by different time zones and by the virtual format – this year plenary will only focus on a few items that require endorsement before the 27th session of the Committee on Agriculture (28 Sep - 2 Oct 2020):

  • Findings of the Evaluation on the Global Soil Partnership.
  • Report on the Financial status of the Global Soil Partnership.
  • Decision about the theme for World Soil Day 2021.
  • Decision about the Global Symposia in 2021 and 2022.
  • Guidelines for monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of Soil Organic Carbon stocks and changes.
  • Progresses under the GSP pillars of action including the implementation of the Code of Conduct for the Sustainable Use and Management of Fertilizers, the Protocol on Sustainable Soil Management and the advances under Pillar 4 and global mapping.
  • Status of the Global Assessment on Soil Pollution and Soil Biodiversity.
  • Progresses under the Regional Soil Partnerships.

Regrettably, side events to this year Plenary have been cancelled. The Plenary Assembly will be held in English.
