6th Plenary Assembly: Report available

The 6th GSP Plenary Assembly was attended by more than 250 participants representing around 100 FAO member countries and over 40 other GSP partners.

In a nutshell, the PA discussed the Code of Conduct on Fertilizers, endorsed the Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN) and approved the Global Soil Information System (GLOSIS) way forward. The new Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS) Panel 2018- 2019 was elected. Representatives from member countries and partners reviewed the progress made during the last year and discussed the work plan for 2018–2019. GSP-prompted activities, such as the organization of the past symposiums on Soil Organic Carbon and Soil Pollution, and the proposal for the next symposiums on Soil Erosion were debated and formalized. The communication campaign for World Soil Day 2017 – 2018 and the Glinka World Soil Prize award were reviewed and approved.

The 3rd NENA Plenary meeting and the 4th AfSP Plenary meeting were held on the last day of the GSP Plenary assembly as well as the project ‘Afrisoils: boosting soil productivity for a food secured Africa’ which took place also on the 13th June as a side event to the 6th GSP Plenary Assembly.
