Global Soil Partnership

The 24th session of the FAO’s Committee on Agriculture, held in Rome on 29th September to 3rd October 2014, considered the report of the second meeting of the GSP Plenary Assembly.

The GSP Second Plenary Assembly successfully took place in Rome from the 22 to the 24th July 2014 at FAO HQ. The Plenary assembly brings together all its partners to discuss about crucial issues of the GSP implementation.

The Youth & United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA) booklet on Soils is now available !



Since its establishment, the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS) has played a fundamental role in positioning soils on the global agenda through sound science.

European Commission supports GSP Implementation

Since its conception, the European Commission has been a major supporter for the establishment of the Global Soil Partnership, in line with the EU's Soil Thematic Strategy.  After extensive dialogue, a project proposal has been accepted in order to provide €1 million to the GSP for selected activities during 2014-2015.

During the second GSP Plenary Assembly, members endorsed that the GSP Plenary Assembly will be the venue for the selection of WSD themes for coordination of the implementation of key events and more generally that it should be kept regularly aware of WSD plans for future celebrations.
