As part of the preparations for the first Plenary Assembly (23-24 May 2013), the Global Soil Partnership is calling interested institutions and organizations to join them in its effort to secure healthy soils for a food secure and healthy world. In case of interest, please fill in the application form  and send it to the GSP-Secretariat@fao.org.

A selection of videos and educational animations explaining the different roles of soils in our lives is presented in this DVD. This is part of a joint strategy to promote awareness on the importance of this fundamental natural resource. The aim of this DVD is to raise the voice of a silent resource that is currently facing a continuous degradation process.  

On the occasion of the side event “Securing healthy soils for a food secure world: a day dedicated to soils” that took place on the 5 of December at FAO HQ, the first GSP report “State of the Art Report on Global and Regional Soil Information: Where are we? Where to go?” was launched by FAO.

Coincidentally, on 5 of December 2012, the FAO Council also approved the proposal to establish a World Soil Day to be celebrated annually on 5 December (as tabled by IUSS) as a platform for raising awareness on the importance of soils for food security and eco-system functions.

In the framework of various soil events, new videos and animations have been launched.
