Sediment Mobilization

Economic consequences on investment sectors

Considering the environmental modifications caused by sediments, this page should indicate the major risks/benefits and losses/gains of the affected economic sectors. This section should analyze the scenario in the perspective of the existing and estimated future demands for the relevant products or services. More specifically, the impacts on local, regional and national markets of the products should be evaluated together with the factors affecting the present and potential export activities. Impacts should also be evaluated in terms of social and economic needs of the local population affected by the environmental change (food security and unemployment risks). The possible reduction/increment of services should be considered in the analysis. The main points of the section are:

Description of the economic impacts.

Statistical data describing the socio-economic implications of changes in sediment regimes.

Socio-economic factors and indicators.

Demands and market/trade links
