SE Asia Project Funded
A proposal
submitted to the Asia Pacific Network (APN) to fund some initial
activities of the SE Asia GOFC-GOLD network (SEAGOFC-GOLD)
has been approved. The project will focus on the current status
of forest cover and land use, using a nested system of analyses
that includes detailed case studies and national and regional
analyses. It will identify critical areas within the forest
ecosystem and model future scenarios using our understanding
of the driving forces behind land use and forest cover change.
It will also provide policy relevant information to local
communities, national resource management agencies, and regional
and international institutions.

WGISS/GOFC-GOLD Test Facility On-line
For some
time now, the CEOS Working Group on Information Systems and
Services (WGISS) has been working with GOFC-GOLD scientists
to develop the WGISS/GOFC Test Facility (WTF). We now have
a page which provides a "user's view" of the WTF. Currently,
this page is composed of two sections:
- Demonstration
Scenarios - showing how data and services provided by CEOS
agencies can be used to solve real problems
- Data
Portal - providing a view of the International Directory
Network (IDN), customized to browse and search for GOFC-GOLD
related material
The WTF
page can be found in the Data section
of the GOFC-GOLD Web site, and replaces the former DataSite.
We expect this page to evolve as new GOFC projects are undertaken
and new products are produced.
