Several
universities have participated in the development of GOFC-GOLD
through the efforts of forefront researchers in global change
issues, particularly the use of earth observation data for
land cover, land cover change, wildfires, and forest biophysical
functioning. These include Tropical
Rain Forest Information Center (Michigan State University),
Global
Fire Monitoring Center (Freiburg University), Global
Land Cover Facility (University of Maryland), International
Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences (ITC).
