TEMS v 2.3 mini-CD-ROM

Version 2.3 of the Terrestrial Ecosystem Monitoring Sites (TEMS) database

TEMS version 2.3 is now online at www.fao.org/gtos/tems/ and will soon be available on mini CD-ROM. This latest update includes additional features and improvements which were requested through the user survey conducted earlier this year. For example one of the improvements is new html pages for the environmental variables and the socio-economic data sheets and the possibility to download them all as a single zip file.

The database now includes an additional 795 field sites which are part of the IPC-Forest (the International Co-operative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Air Pollution Effects on Forests). ICP Forests monitor the forest condition in Europe, using two different monitoring intensity levels in cooperation with the European Union. Many sites in addition to assessing the annual crown condition also measure soil condition and chemistry, foliar nutrient status, meteorological conditions, ground vegetation and the deposition of air pollutants. Currently 38 countries participate in the ICP Forests programme. Additional details in IPC-Forest can be viewed at: www.icp-forests.org/Index.htm.
