Dear Colleagues,
Please be informed of developments of the Northern Eurasia Regional
Information Network (NERIN):
1. The next NERIN workshop is scheduled for September 20, 2007 in
Urumqi, China. The focus of the workshop is on REQUIREMENTS FOR
OBSERVATIONS OF LANDCOVER DYNAMICS IN DRYLAND REGIONS OF NORTHERN
EURASIA and it is conducted within a larger series of meetings (see
draft agenda and additional information at http://lcluc.umd.edu/
and at http://www.neespi.org/news/Urumqi-Agenda_initial_draft.pdf).
2. Reports from 2006 NERIN workshops (in Tomsk and in Moscow) are
now available at http://www.fao.org/gtos/gofc-gold/net-NERIN.html
and http://nerin.scert.ru.
3. The next NERIN workshop is tentatively planned for June 2008
focusing on mapping land cover in the arctic regions of Northern
Eurasia.
4. The GTOS Secretariat has now available a first draft of the Russian
translation of the manual of the Land Cover Classification System
(LCCS). The authors and translators would appreciate your comments
on this translation. Please send your comments to me and to Reuben
Sessa (Reuben.Sessa@fao.org).
