South-South cooperation

Action Against Desertification strongly promotes South-South cooperation.

Lessons learned from the Great Green Wall experience help partners across Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific to tackle the detrimental social, economic and environmental impact of land degradation.

Action Against Desertification has fostered cooperation between communities, institutions and partners from the countries where it works, as well as other countries.

For example, enhanced cooperation has helped to mobilize technical knowledge and to improve capacities in seed mobilization from other countries, such as Kenya and Mali.

Bridges between Turkey and the Great Green Wall

In partnership with Turkey, FAO is developing a project called BRIDGES to expand the Great Green Wall in Eritrea, Mauritania and Sudan.
