Action Against Desertification

Regional validation workshop of the capacity development strategy and action plan in support of the implementation of the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel Initiative

The workshop is organized by the Partnership Programme of the Association for the Promotion of Education and Training Abroad (APEFE) with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Burkina Faso, the African Union Commission, the European Union, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Global Mechanism (GM) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). FAO in collaboration with its partners and in the framework of the African Union Commission project " Support to the implementation of the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel Initiative",  co-funded by EU and the GM-UNCCD, has developed a draft strategy and action for capacity development in support to the immeplementation of the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel Initiative. During this 2-day workshop, participants from partner countries and organizations will:

  • analyse the components of the draft version of the capacity  development (CD) strategy and action plan (objectives, relevance of selected target beneficiaries, logical framework);
  • contribute with recommendations to finalize the draft document of the “Capacity development strategy and action plan in support of the implementation of the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel Initiative”; and
  • identify existing opportunities for the implementation of the CD strategy and action plan (roles and responsibilities of the partners in terms of technical and financial contributions).

The workshop will run in two languages (English and French).
