The tourism sector purchases approximately $600 million per year from the Dominican agricultural sector, according to Joel Santos, President of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES).

He indicated that the association signed an agreement with the Dominican Agricultural Business Board (JAD according to its acronym in Spanish) in order to continue promoting internal consumption of agricultural products.

The agreement is intended to revitalize the consumption of locally harvested and manufactured products in order to benefit Dominican producers, while effectively ensuring the quality of these products and supply security to meet the demand of agricultural products in the tourism sector.
