Analysis and Mapping of Impacts under Climate Change for Adaptation and Food Security (AMICAF)

Component 2

Food insecurity vulnerability analysis at household level as the result of climate change and mapping of vulnerable locations and households

The objective of the Component 2 is to assess the transmission and socio-economic impacts of climate change at the farm household level. Component 2 is applicable in all recipient countries.

Despite evidence and policy recommendations on the global impacts of climate change, little is known about how these impacts are distributed between different household groups within countries and how policy makers can help to ease the negative impacts.

Better understanding could help in the design and implementation of effective policy measures aimed at:

  1. assisting households affected by shocks to cope with the negative impacts,
  2. implementing other risk management strategies, such as adaptation practices, which respond to the burden of future risks.

Component 2 uses advanced analytical and information sharing tools to provide evidence and information on:

  • The impact of climate shocks on household level agricultural productivity, and the threats imposed by climate and other risks to a household's current and future food insecurity by econometric analysis;
  • Specific climate shocks;
  • The policy tools that are able to reduce the impact of climate risks most effectively.
