New contract farming law released in Thailand

On 22nd May 2018 the Government of Thailand released a new law to support contract farming in the country. The "Contract Farming Promotion and Development Act" will come into force in September 2018 and provide specific rules on the formulation of contracts as well dispute resolution and mediation mechanisms. The act further clarifies the determining factors for contract farming agreements as well as rules and procedures related.

The act is divided into several parts, such as Contract Farming Promotion and Development Commission, Agricultural Business Operators, Conclusion of Contract Farming Agreements, Dispute Mediation,  Penalties and Transitory Provisions.
