Creación de capacidades para la seguridad alimentaria

Regional workshop on Integrating Nutrition and Food Security Programming - Horn of Africa

From 24/02/2014 To 01/03/2014
Location: Nairobi

The Regional Training Workshop (25-27 Feb. 2014) and Training of Trainers session (24 Feb.-1 Mar 2014) has built the capacity of humanitarian field practitioners on how to better integrate nutrition into food security programming. This event was an opportunity to strengthen skills in needs assessment design, implementation and M&E of integrated nutrition and food security interventions, and to share experience on successful (and less successful) practices in the region for a diversity of food security interventions (agriculture, cash, livestock, etc.).

The Training of Trainers session developed a pool of regional facilitators able to support aid agencies in integrating nutrition in food security programming in order to maximize the nutritional benefits of emergency and resilience building interventions in the Horn of Africa.

The event was an opportunity to gather nutrition and food security professionals working in emergency and resilience-building programming in the region and in the following four countries (Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan).

Similar events will be organized for French-speaking countries in the Sahel in the spring of 2014.
