Research activities under the EAF-Nansen program are guided by the science plan. The science plan is intended to ensure good scientific use of the wealth of data generated by the R/V Dr Fridtjof Nansen and other related data, addressing key research questions in support of tactical and strategic fisheries management. The science plan is a dynamic document that currently covers 11 themes, presented in the figure below.

The work under the science plan, and related to each of the themes, will be implemented by scientists from partner countries, regional and international institutions (including some in Norway) working in several thematic teams to carry out detailed analyses of the data in support of management (Science Consortium). The research generated will feed into fisheries management cycle at national and regional level and contribute to addressing global ocean governance issues.
