Adriana Ignaciuk 

Senior economist and EPIC team leader

 

Before joining FAO in 2016, Ada worked as an Economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where she was responsible for providing scientific, technical and policy guidance to the governments on the implementation of climate-friendly agricultural policies. She has a PhD in Environmental Economics.

Antonio Scognamillo
Economist 

Antonio is an economist\econometric analysis specialist within the Economic and Policy Analysis of Climate Change programme at FAO. After earning his Ph.D. in Development Economics at the University of Florence (Italy), he worked as a research fellow at Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Salerno. He also collaborated with World Bank and UN-DESA to produce policy research background papers. His research interests include agriculture economics, inequality, poverty, climate vulnerability and food security. His research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals including World Development, Empirical Economics, Food Policy, among others.

Joanna Ilicic
Economist and EX-ACT coordinator

Joanna, a Polish national, is an economist and policy analyst coming from Paris, where she worked for a number of years on agricultural policy measurement and analysis in the Trade and Agriculture Directorate of the OECD. She holds two Master degrees in international economics, one from University of Sussex and one from University of Warsaw.

Luca Renzi
Office assistant

Luca joined ESA as the Office Assistant of the EPIC team at the start of 2022. He joined FAO in 2015 working in different divisions. His undergraduate studies were in Law and he obtained an MA in International Relations and Law from the American University, Saint John’s University and an MA in HR Management from Guglielmo Marconi. His last thesis explored the correlation between emotional intelligence and the enhancement of diversity and inclusion in the workplace by focusing on the LGBTQI+ community.

Joshua Kafotokoza
Econometric specialist

Joshua holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Turin, a Master’s degree in Public Economics from University of Rennes 1, and a Bsc in Agricultural Economics from University of Malawi. Before joining the EPIC Team, Joshua worked as an Economist for the Ministry of Economic Planning in Malawi. He also worked as a research consultant for Michigan State University and IFPRI on a value chain study of the legume market in Malawi. His research interests encompass poverty, inequality, development, environmental economics, and behavioural economics.

Maria Giulia Crespi
Economist and EX-ACT analyst

Maria Giulia holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics from the University of Florence, and received a bachelor’s in Business and Economics from the University of Bologna. Her master thesis aimed at evaluating the impact of migration on food security of left-behind households, and her research interests encompass poverty, development and environmental economics. Her recent and current work focuses on different aspects related to economic and policy analysis of climate change, including the role of public expenditures in climate change adaptation and mitigation, the analysis and promotion of sustainable value chains for reducing agriculture-led deforestation.

Aristide Ouedraogo

Economist and EX-ACT analyst

Aristide holds a PhD degree in Applied Agricultural Economics and Policy from the University of Ghana where his research focused on commercial agricultural as pathways to rural poverty reduction, and a Master degree on Development Economics from Thomas Sankara University of Burkina Faso. His research interest also includes climate and market risks in agrifood systems and the role of public policies. He worked with the FAO Regional office for Africa and has now joined the EPIC team to support the EX ACT unit on environmental and socio-economic analysis of projects/policies related to sustainable Agriculture and food value chain development. 

Lorenzo Maestripieri
Low-carbon agriculture specialist and EX-ACT analyst

Lorenzo holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy from SciencesPo Paris, and received a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Roma Tre. Before joining the EX-ACT team, Lorenzo worked in BBI-JU, a PPP of the European Commission responsible for the funding of innovation in the field of bioeconomy. He also has working experience in the field of climate change divulgation.

Miquel Saludas Cohí
Low-carbon agriculture specialist and EX-ACT analyst

Miquel holds a Master´s of Science degree in Agriculture with a specialization in Agroecology from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and received a bachelor's in sciences in Environmental Sciences for the University of Girona. Miquel aims to provide long-term solutions for sustainable agrifood systems through his expertise at the merging point between society and the environment. Miquel works on the development of the Biodiversity Integrated Assessment and Computation Toll (B-INTACT).

Federico Drogo
Economist

Federico joined the FAO-EPIC team in 2022. His current work focuses on climate change mitigation analyses and research on True Cost Accounting (TCA) for the agrifood systems. Before joining FAO, he worked as a consultant at the Italian Ministry of the Environment dealing with the assessment of environmentally friendly and harmful subsidies. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Turin-Collegio Carlo Alberto and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Pavia.

Isaac Guzman Estrada
Climate change mitigation specialist and EX-ACT analyst

Isaac, a Mexican national, is a climate change policy analyst. He holds an Erasmus Mundus Master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the Central European University, Hungary; and Lund University, Sweden. His master thesis was focus on urban food security and adaptation strategies. Prior to joining the EPIC team he was Project Manager in Mexico City’s Ministry of Environment.

Greta Dobrovich
Climate Change Economist and EX-ACT analyst

Greta focuses on assessing the climate and socio-economic impacts of AFOLU interventions. She holds an MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change from the London School of Economics and has gained expertise in climate finance. Prior to FAO, she worked at the Climate Policy Initiative, attended COP26 with the African Group of Negotiators, and completed an internship at the UNFCCC. Her recent works include authoring The State of Climate Finance in Africa (CPI) and drafting the second chapter of the Fifth (2022) Biennial Assessment and Overview of Climate Finance Flows (UNFCCC).

Sravya Mamidanna
Economist and EX-ACT analyst

Sravya is a Political Economist by training and before joining the FAO-EPIC Team, she worked with ICRISAT and ZALF, where her work revolved around cost-effectiveness analysis of Climate Smart Agriculture interventions using a range of bio-economic modelling tools. Her research interests aim to improve decision support for effective climate change adaptation and mitigation in agro-food systems. She holds an MSc in Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
