Food for the cities programme

Next steps

Policy proposals can be outlined based on the CRFS scan and/or the in-depth assessment. This may include recommendations to design a new food policy or strategy or (a set of) actions, to revise an existing policy (for example to integrate food system considerations, or improve enforcement), or to evaluate the impact of an already implemented policy action or programme.

Improvements to governance structures, either through the development of new networks or by facilitating new avenues for participation for key food system actors may also be a priority to have a policy impact. Such proposals may be developed in a series of working group meetings. The objectives of this workshop are to:

  • Discuss and validate the CRFS assessment
  • Discuss and identify key areas for developing policy scenarios and action plans
  • Identify entry points in existing policy programmes

Further policy support and planning processes and tools are outlined in the next section.
