Regional workshop in Sahel contributes to integrating nutrition in food security programming

The Regional Training Workshop (10-12 june 2014) on "Integrating nutrition and food security programming in emergency situations and strengthening resilience" has taken place in Saly (Senegal). The Workshop, gathering 60 aprticpants from the four target countries (Burkina FAso Chad, Mali and Niger) has built the capacity of humanitarian field practitioners on how to better integrate nutrition into food security programming (e.g. evaluation of context, design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation).

This event was an opportunity share successful and less successful experiences on integrated programmes in the Sahel for a diversity of food security interventions (agriculture, cash, livestock, etc.).

The Training of Trainers session, which has taken place on 9, 13 and 14 june 2014 also in Saly, has allowed to develop a pool of regional facilitators able to support aid agencies in integrating nutrition in food security programming in order to maximize the nutritional benefits of emergency and resilience building interventions in the Sahel.
