Regional training workshops
The training workshops aim at addressing the gaps and challenges that are being faced by partners in integrating nutrition and food security in the Horn of Africa and in the Sahel.
The workshops are prepared in a participatory manner, through the Project Task Force (PTF) meetings, as well as through bilateral meetings; inception missions are also done to introduce the project and the training events to regional and country partners. The invitations to the workshops are widely circulated both at the regional level, and at the target country level.
Involvement of key partners, such as the Food Security and Nutrition Clusters members, and their commitment to support the work of the clusters after the regional training events, are important steps to ensure workshop's follow-up at national level.
- Following this lead, the Regional training workshop and Training of Trainers for the Horn of Africa were held in Nairobi, from 24 February to 1st March 2014. The Regional workshop and ToT respectively gathered 60 and 24 participants drawn from the four target countries (Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and South-Sudan) and from the regional offices.
- A Regional training workshop and the Training of Trainers for the Sahel region were held on 9-14 June 2014. As for the Horn of Africa regional training workshop, the preparatory phase for the workshop included an inception mission (21 January to 14 February 2014) to the four target countries (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali and Niger).
